Time for a peek behind the scenes here at TLT:
My month started incredibly relaxed and sunny. With lots of fresh seafood, lovely dinners and long nights outside. The transition to a rainy Amsterdam with many work deadlines wasn’t that easy, but luckily there were some nice events waiting for me here as well.
A dinner at Hotel de Goudfazant for example. This popular Amsterdam restaurant has completely exceeded my already high expectations and you can read more about my experience in this post. I also enjoyed an unexpected birthday breakfast at Bagels Beans, the delicious shrimp croquettes from EYE and the best sushi in Amsterdam Oost.
In between all the deadlines and dinners, I stood in the kitchen myself. To bake these great raspberry tarts with almond cream for instance (recipe soon on TLT) or these raspberry crumbles. And of course I prepared BBQ ribs, to bring some of that ‘American summer’ feeling to the table.
This month the Dutch delicious. magazine published a lovely article about Bloody Mary and I was one of the contributors. You can find my recipe for Parmesan polenta fries with Bloody Mary dip in the September edition of delicious, but you can also still find it here. This month I reviewed Alice Hart’s Vegetarian cookbook and you can read all about it here. I also cooked from the lovely Yummy Supper cookbook (and gave one away) and tested the Farm Brothers spelt crackers you see on the picture above. Highly recommended!
I attended the ShowUp event in the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. At this event a wide variety of living & lifestyle brands present their new collections. I discovered lovely kitchen products and the delicious chocolate from the Danish brand Simply Chocolate, who also have a fun advent calendar for chocolate lovers. And this can was a perfect example of the little things.
On TLT this article about the new restaurants and hotspots in Amsterdam did really well. Also popular were the recipes for my favorite avocado sandwich, the sweet potato tacos and this little ricotta cake with thyme and summer fruit.
