Recommended: B&B Huis Koning in Bruges, Belgium

I wanted to stay at Huis Koning for a long time already, but this stylish Bed & Breakfast in Bruges was always booked for months in advance. Luckily, persistence (and planning!) wins and last week I enjoyed my first weekend in this lovely Belgian place. And it turned out to be a very special weekend indeed…

Why I can wholeheartedly recommend Huis Koning? Its location in the city centre of Bruges is ideal and the rooms are beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds, luxury linen and a big bathroom. Owners Peter and Lynn are extremely hospitable: you feel welcome and at home, but have enough privacy at the same time. It’s not surprising to learn that Lynn used to run her own restaurant, because guests are spoiled throughout the day. From a perfect breakfast with local cheeses, eggs to your liking and homemade jams to the freshly baked waffles with your coffee and surprise apple cakes in your room. I always notice how restaurants and hotels in Belgium really pay attention to the little things and this B&B puts that even further.

Of course I was planning to take many pictures of this place, but the shot of the apple cake above is the only one I can offer you. I have the best reason possible for it though, because of a completely unexpected marriage proposal (and I said yes!). Huis Koning will therefore always be a very special place to me, where we will hopefully celebrate many anniversaries in the future.
