What? Restaurant Kok au Vin in Brugge (Bruges), Belgium
Why? The restaurant from chef Jürgen Aerts has a modern, but warm interior that immediately reminded me of my Danish favorite Radio. Kok au Vin’s 3-course Bib Gourmand menu is amazing value for money, especially when you take the quality and originality of the ingredients into account.
The starter was without a doubt one of the best dishes I had in a long time: scallops with crispy cumin carrots, blood orange, carrot puree and carrot orange ice cream. The other dishes were impressive as well and all featured original taste combinations that really worked. The dishes are satisfying but light, leaving you enough room to taste great friandises like marshmallow-popcorn lollipops and fritters. It’s clear that they really pay attention to the little things here. Highly recommended!
Must-try? You just can’t beat the Bib Gourmand menu.
