What? Oleo Hotel in Glen Ellen, California
Why? In the small town of Glen Ellen, the Olea Hotel is located in the heart of Sonoma: California Wine County. This small boutique hotel is very elegant and carefully decorated; with a gorgeous porch area, a flowery garden and string lights on the patio. It is no wonder this place is often booked for honeymoons (and I speak from experience!). I absolutely loved the private patio in front of the rooms, the large bathrooms with heated floors and their cloud-like beds. Oh those beds!
What struck me most, was the effort that was put in the little details and the personal attention of every staff member. Take the lobby station for instance, where you can grab a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine and some nibbles before dinner. The little snacks in the rooms, that were replenished every day. Or the famous extensive breakfast; so extensive in fact, that I though we had to choose from the menu. To my surprise we got all dishes in elegant little portions. What a great way to start a day of wine tastings in the hotel’s gorgeous California surroundings. I can only highly recommend Olea hotel for a few romantic days in Sonoma.
Must-do? Make sure to pay restaurants Glen Ellen Star and The Fig Café (both just minutes away) a visit. The hotel will definitely recommend you some local wineries.
