Today I’m sharing my favorite places for a weekend in Ghent, Belgium with you:
In the middle of the centre of Ghent, you will find Bed & Breakfast ‘B&B Botermarkt 6’ and this place is just wonderful. The large, modern decorated private room is perfect to unwind after a day of shopping and sightseeing. Wit Netflix on the TV, a Nespresso machine, local sweets and a comfortable bed that becomes even easier. And let’s not forget to mention the amazing breakfast, which is put in the little fridge in the mornings. “Now it’s time to enjoy”, as owner Marije said. I’m 100% sure you will do just that.
The owners of the well-known Eat, Love Pizaa recently opened their new place: Chix. Here, the focus lies on grilled chicken, in a absolutely gorgeous decorared and at the same time very relaxed place. Definitely go for the menu and order lots of different side dishes to share. Roasted sweet potato with crème fraiche, crispy thin fries, crunchy endive salad and real Belgian mayonnaise for instance. And the chicken of course: perfectly roasted, subtly spiced and nice and juice inside. Lovely evening guaranteed!
Coffee & lunch
In Ghent there are so many great places for an extensive coffee moment or lunch. I can wholeheartedly recommend the places below:
– Bar Bidon
A trendy bike store-meets-café, with a relaxed atmosphere and easy straightforward lunch menu (grilled cheese or soup). Nice and no-nonsense!
Barista has two locations in the city and lends itself perfectly for a cup of coffee and some sweets.
– True Beans
This hip place is packed during weekends and doesn’t accept payments by card. You immediately forgive the attentive servers this, especially after you tasted the delicious coffee (in kitsch golden cups).
– Jardin Bohemien
A breakfast spot, lunchroom and elegant B&B all together. Simple, but tastefully decorated, good soup and a relaxed vibe.
