What? Sugarcane Raw Bar & Grill in Downtown Miami
Why? Located in a part of Miami you probably wouldn’t visit otherwise, this edgy restaurant is a definite must for foodies. The space has a stylish Western feeling (with red leather booths and wooden fans), a romantic terrace and a nice view into the three different kitchens. The eclectic plates are small, all meant to be shared and finger-licking good. Bonus points for the enthusiastic servers.
Must-try? Sugarcane is famous for its bacon wrapped dates (stuffed with manchego and spicy sausage: incredible!) and goat cheese croquettes (delicious combined with the sweet marmalade). Please don’t skip the tuna crudo with avocado and papaya: seriously one of the best raw tuna dishes I’ve ever had. And save room for dessert: you don’t want to miss the French toast-like Torrejas.
