TLT reads: The Green Kitchen – Vegetarian Everyday

I have been following the blog Green Kitchen Stories from the Scandinavian David en Luise for years and their site remains a huge source of inspiration. The photography and styling are gorgeous and their vegetarian recipes often very innovative. That this inspiring couple would publish a cookbook was only logical and I’m so glad the Dutch translation of that book is now available as well.

Although I do eat sugar, meat and gluten myself, I wholeheartedly embrace David and Luise’s plea for real food. Cooking with love and care that is, using carefully selected natural products.

The book has several slightly adapted recipes from the site, but most of the dishes are shot and created especially for print. The result is an amazingly designed book full of truly inspiring vegetarian dishes. A beanotto (creamy risotto made from white beans) with oyster mushrooms and spinach for instance. Or a stunning frozen strawberry cheesecake on a sunflower seed crust. And I am definitely going to try the portobello burger with grilled peaches and avocado this summer.

I have already made the wonderful banana coconut pancakes (made with mashed banana, egg and grated coconut) several times. And I can tell you: after such a comforting breakfast, your day can only go right!

I find ‘The Green Kitchen’ (UK/Australia edition) or ‘Vegetarian Everyday’ (US edition) a great inspiring book for people who like to eat vegetarian and natural, and are looking for new variations. The original recipes and gorgeous pictures in this book will definitely tempt you.
