What? Restaurant NOPI in London
Why? I visited NOPI last year and was truly impressed by the entire atmosphere and the quality of the dishes. NOPI is the first real Ottolenghi restaurant and his influence is notable in both the food (bold flavors, lots of vegetables, generous drizzles of olive oil and a focus on Middle-Eastern ingredients like pomegranate, sumac and tahini) as well as the people who work here. Every waiter I encountered was passionate about the concept behind the restaurant, the ingredients they work with and recommended some favorite dishes on the menu. For me it’s that personal attention and enthusiasm that can truly set a restaurant apart. The dishes at NOPI are meant to be shared and that’s a good thing, because you want to order as many as possible. Crazy good.
Must-try? The menu changes regularly, but I can highly recommend the fried zucchini flowers; stuffed with goat cheese and ricotta, then drizzled with honey.
